Isu yang hampir sama dengan ini pernah dimainkan oleh pihak media di India beberapa tahun yang lalu apabila seorang ahli sukannya yang merupakan seorang muslimah berpakaian menjolok mata. Sama seperti di sini, pelbagai pihak termasuk agamawan dan ahli politik mula memberi riaksi yang pelbagai termasuk kritikan dan sokongan. Zakir Naik turut mencabar pihak media untuk mengajukan soalan yang sama .
